the magician
After questioning whether I should record the latest comic incident involving our children, I have decided to go ahead with the story. I love these small, embarrassing instances that cause me to stop whatever monotonous task I am doing and just laugh with my children.
This morning I decided to grab a shower while the boys were watching Caillou on PBS and the baby was sleeping. Afterwards, I started picking up the remnants of a busy morning of playing and noticed that in the cartoon the main character (a little boy about Aidan's age) met a magician. I soon began to hear Aidan and Abel attempting to repeat the magician's magic words, "abba abba dabba, abba abba dabba," while they hid super-heros in their shirts letting the toys fall to the ground once the magic words were spoken. A few minutes later I heard a panicked scream coming from the living room. I ran in and heard Aidan yelling, "MY BATMAN, MY BATMAN!" My first thought was to reprimand Abel for snatching yet another toy from his brother. Then I noticed that Aidan had taken an awkward stance and something seemed to be going on in his pants. I unbuttoned them to find five different super-heros stuffed inside. He was quite distressed and extremely grateful to have them taken out. I guess that was going to be some magic trick. I wonder if this incident will mark his last efforts at being a magician.
