the summer's end

At the conclusion of Mother's Day Out last May, I was a little worried about our summer schedule. Long, hot days at home with all three little ones and nothing much planned besides the regular house cleaning, daily obstacle of laundry, grocery shopping, and trips to the park...this just did not sound all that appealing to me. I envy those moms who can stay at home each day with fun activities planned for their children and dinner on the table for their husband each night; but, as hard as I try, I just never get there. I guess it is more of the contentment that I envy and not just the accomplishment of these specific tasks. Anyway, the summer is over. We were able to take a few trips to visit family in Nashville allowing Mark and I to have time to ourselves...The trip to the beach was completely unexpected and thoroughly enjoyed...Mark and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary...We spent a lot of time with good friends...Here are some recent pictures taken along the way:

This is Abel's attempt to amuse himself during one of the numerous outings that we might have been able to do without.

Have you ever actually tried cleaning a house with three small children? Making the bed is no simple task.

Aidan started playing soccer last Saturday. I still cannot believe that the person on the field is not me but my child.

Kids and water are always a great combination. The sprinkler pushed to the side might have worked better if Daddy hadn't run over the hose with a lawn mower and then blamed the dog. Abel is always one to improvise.

Aidan was missing "baby mamona" and wanted to try out her hairdo with some rubber bands that Matt and Laurie left behind.
