we're in!
well, the big move came and passed more smoothly than i had expected with amazing help from both of my parents and some good friends. THANK YOU to everyone that worked so hard to move us so quickly!
the boys adjusted to their new home immediately. whenever we leave the house (which has not been that often since we are desperately attempting to put all of that stuff that we apparently need and had to bring with us away) the boys want to be reassured that we are returning to our new home. watching them settle in and actually fall into a better routine has been a blessing.
we decided to place aidan in his own room. he might end up sharing it with the baby in the next year, but for now he has a great space to himself. last night he spent some time rediscovering a favorite book and soon realized that he could read a few of the short stories held within. what an amazing development to watch!
abel was moved to the top bunk with oliver happily down below. their room houses most of the toys, so they have been getting up each morning and playing together letting their exhausted parents sleep for another 15min. we will take whatever we can get.
there is still so much to complete with the house. the walls are a stark white (well, except for those dark hand-prints christening this home filled with boys). the floors also have a bit of a white glaze on them from the drywall work currently being done in the bonus room. my dad has been here for a couple of days working so hard to make this space nice for our family.
again, we are so grateful and feel quite loved by those that have helped us through this process. rest assured, we have no intention of doing this again anytime in the near future.
