first day
it begins. today marks abel's first day of kindergarten, aidan enters first grade, and fall soccer starts. our family does seem to operate best with a set schedule for the kids, and they are each thrilled with the school and soccer related activities. however, i am left feeling a bit empty this morning. i still have ollie at home to fill the house with a little noise, but i am missing the boys. thankfully, they all woke up on time this morning eager for the day ahead and so proud to put on their school uniform and new matching shoes. i wish that we could have captured the eagerness in abel's face and how bright his eyes appeared. i just have to trust that we make the best decisions available for our children and allow them to be cared for by those trained to do so.
our last afternoon of the summer was spent together at the pool. many days have been spent in a similar way since the water alleviates the pain i feel while thoroughly entertaining the kids. all three have become much better swimmers and seem to enjoy the water equally. mark has been great at coming up with games for he and the kids to play together while allowing me that time just to relax. the remainder of the evening was spent riding through sprinklers as i tackled the mound of laundry in the living room and mark completed painting our once yellow bedroom. i am sure that he will post pictures of the project as we put the room back together.
so, today we stumble through the newness of this day and enjoy all of the activities and experiences that it brings...
