birthday

happy birthday, mark!

mark spent much of his weekend scootin' all over chattanooga with over a hundred others for the first ever hill city scooter rally. overall, i think that he had a blast and looks forward to the upcoming rally in atlanta. i think that i need to join some kind of club that requires me to be away, enjoying beautiful days outside with friends, and eating a lot. any ideas?

last night, we had a few friends over to celebrate with good food and conversation, and tonight we finish off the birthday festivities with a family dinner with homemade chocolate chip cookies and a load of ice cream for dessert. so, i sure hope that this guy is feeling the love...

firsts

a mornings of firsts: aidan's first day of kindergarten; a cooley actually tucked in his shirt (for kindergarten); oliver decided to sleep in (after waking us all up at 6:10am)...

last tuesday we all went to take aidan to his first full day of school. he will be attending battle academy, a local magnet school. he is thrilled. i am nervous. monday night was spent putting out his school uniform, packing his lunch, and setting out his backpack. the little guy is so proud to be approaching this milestone. i am happy for him and incredibly grateful that despite our many shared characteristics he somehow acquired great social skills. our days will drastically change, our weeks will be ruled by a school calendar, and a whole group of people that i do not know well will be shaping this little guy. i think of all of the wonderful and difficult experiences that are sure to come and pray for grace throughout the process.
