adventures with abe

abe accompanied me on a short trip to boston to join in celebrating our friend, laurie's, birthday.
the thought of entering an airport and riding a plane thrilled abel. he spent much of his plane ride talking, asking random questions, and storytelling.
boston was great! the wintery air was a welcomed change--in small doses. abe saw a few bits of snow. it did take some direction to get him not to put that bit of city snow and ice collected on the side of the street into his mouth. i was somehow able to win that battle...
we saw ships and tugboats, spent time with good friends, ate a lot, and i was even able to sight see while abel spent time in the warm apartment with our friend, matt! thanks matt!
time alone with each of my children is always welcomed and enjoyed as i attempt to learn more about each of their developing personalities. abel is tender-hearted, eager, imaginative, complex, demanding, giving, and joyful. so many traits to love and enjoy and so many to work on understanding...

goofy

the rustle of little footed pajamas, kids hyped up from pancakes and cookies, sweet songs flowing from little voices...today, the boys enjoyed pajama and pancake day at the mother's day out program that they attend. poor abe. i did not realize that his long legs have recently outgrown most of his pajama bottoms until this morning. thankfully, he is completely unaware that high waters are not in fashion. i just had to remind mark to restrain his giggles until abel was out of the room so that another desperate search for the proper attire would not ensue. ollie, of course, was intent on sporting his new boots with his dinosaur pj's. together these two were quite the pair. fun was had by all and now those guys are sound asleep.

gocco cards
Well, since we finally mailed out a few holiday cards I thought we would post photos of the print run using our Gocco. Amber also used the prints as tags and collaged with other interesting papers to make a few specialty cards. Once we get more supplies we will be running more designs for future projects.

our christmas

dinner shared with family. afterwards, we all walked a couple of blocks to attend the christmas eve service at our church.

gifts given and time together

we got each boy a pair of rain boots for christmas. they were found and put on before mark and i were even up on christmas morning and have not left the boys feet for long since.
i hope that all who read this blog and care about our family enjoyed time with those close to you over the holidays. we have felt so much love and encouragement from so many over the past month and cannot express how grateful we are for each of you!

ollie faces

these pictures were taken a few days ago. oliver often makes his place on my lap early in the morning intent on snuggling for as long as possible. i, of course, have no objection to that. usually, he will then run through all of the facial expressions that he knows. quite amusing i think...
so, what have i been doing over the past week? well, medicating my wee ones for temperatures that rise with little warning leaving cranky kids intent on disturbing the peace. signs of illness started on christmas day and have persisted through the new year with little sleep to be had. today does seem to bring some relief with the sounds of my little guys playing happily (at the moment) upstairs leaving me to those important things--you know, like email and blogging...
