today marked the date of the much anticipated field trip to the knoxville zoo. mark took abel and accompanied the masses of kindergartners leaving ollie and i to carry on with all of the bed rest. the boys' good buddy, asa, joined them in their first tour of this zoo, and all had a great time. brushing the goats, the camel ride, and receiving an obnoxious shrek toy out of a happy meal were among the favorite moments of the trip.

bed rest

mark and i were just talking on saturday afternoon about how we love to be outside--going to parks, taking long walks, drives around chattanooga, visiting with friends, just basically on the move...i am somehow able to hold onto a decent routine with the boys despite these numerous excursions, but i really struggle with feeling content through long days at home. i desire to feel more settled in my own home and now apparently have a chance to work on this...

after a scary mother's day weekend, i am now left at home and in bed for at least the next two weeks unable to venture out. i started bleeding on sunday morning and ended up in the er in murfreesboro (we were visiting my mom for mother's day). they did an ultrasound right away, and we could see that the baby was still moving around and had a strong heartbeat. being 18 1/2 weeks into the pregnancy, i was really surprised to be facing these sort of complications. the ultrasound showed that the placenta is partially covering the cervix and causing the bleeding. i was instructed to see my midwife in the morning and to stay on bed rest. she said on monday that there is a good chance that everything will be okay but that i am not to move much for the next couple of weeks. doing so would jeopardize the baby. if the bleeding does not stop, i will have to be placed in the hospital until it does. i am still experiencing cramping that is painful and really scary.

these last two days in bed have been interesting. it is difficult to watch my husband juggling three kids alone; attempting to feed us all; working on completing the bonus room in time for a scheduled inspection tomorrow; keeping up with work--all while dealing with the fear of losing this little one inside of me.

all of this to say please pray for our family as we make needed changes over the next couple of weeks and for the safety of our little boy...yes, we are having another boy! sunday was definitely the day to be given news of the baby's gender since we could only be incredibly grateful that he continues to be strong.

i also wanted to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU to those who have offered to help with our children!

another first

aidan was THRILLED to show me what he collected at school today. that little bag contains the first tooth that he has lost. i had no idea that he even had one loose. he did seem a little disappointed that there wasn't any blood to be seen but is excited to find out if his parents just might stick a little treat or perhaps a quarter under his pillow in exchange for the prized tooth. i guess he will just have to wait to find out!

down

what a few weeks! we have gotten so much accomplished with the move and settling into our new home. the majority of our possessions have either found a home or were given away, and those that remain will soon find their own spot in our small bonus room. mark has been working so hard to complete this room which will give our family a bit more space to spread out. meanwhile, i have been attempting to take care of these boys who have become a bit wild and overwhelming while i battle strep throat, a cold, and pregnancy related fatigue. today, i find myself not liking anyone or anything and in desperate, desperate need of a good cry and a break. somehow, it does not appear that i will find either one. hopefully, this coming week will bring a healthier me and more structure for the boys.
