remembering

the picture above was taken as aidan was being introduced to his new brother, oliver. aidan was around the same age as oliver is now. it is fun remembering all of the stages that our family has passed through and amazing to think of how quickly these little guys have grown and changed.

oliver was thrilled to finally meet willem and is loving his role as a big brother.

scariest coloring contest

abel_color.jpg

Since Aidan was published on the Veer site last year I thought it was time Abel got a chance. Unfortunately he didn't win, but his coloring is posted for all to see.

thank you to everyone that has offered kind words and prayers as we have moved through these difficult months. our family is slowly adjusting to life together. besides the expected discomfort and fatigue, i am left feeling incredibly grateful for a healthy baby boy. so far, little willem is thriving and seems even tempered.

his older brothers just love to watch and hold him. oliver was especially excited to hear when the baby was born. after announcing the birth to my mom, she turned to share the news with ollie. with a face filled with excitement, he said "i a big brodder!" since the other boys were in school, oliver was the first to visit the new baby. i happened to be nursing willem when mom and oliver walked in. once finished, i handed to baby over to my mom, and oliver pulled up his shirt to have his turn at nursing the baby. so sweet!

i love how eager the boys are to spend time with willem and how each of them have their own list of things that they want to share with their new little brother. when aidan and abel spend time with the baby they cuddle him while explaining their surroundings. they share things that they have learned throughout the day and adventures to come.

raising four boys seems like such an immense task, especially when i am tired and outside of our normal routine. i do, however, feel so grateful to be given this responsibility. when willem was first delivered, my eyes filled with tears, and i was completely overcome by feelings of gratitude. this pregnancy was so difficult and scary. i was not sure that the baby would be healthy once delivered. the labor was short but filled with its own obstacles; but at the end of it all, we were blessed with a sweet and healthy little boy. thanks be to god!
